Phillip AustenArtist Statement: “ I am a born and bred Tasmanian, with a deep love of the land, from rugged mountains to wild sea. The bush, farmlands, coastal regions, wilderness, highland lakes and lowland rivers providing particular attraction and inspiration for capturing the heritage and diversity of the Tasmanian landscape.
Painting in watercolour provides me with the portability and spontaneity to enable the creative interpretation of the landscape elements that I see. When ever possible I try to work “en plein air” as it heightens the senses and provides an emotional connection to what I want to paint.” |
