Lynne HutchinsLynne has been a member of the LAS since 2004 and has served on the Committee for a number of years
Lynne has also been the assistant curator to Carlene Bullock for the past ten years, transporting paintings for many other artists who were unable to deliver or collect work for various reasons. This has at times taken Lynne and Carlene as far afield as Hobart, Burnie and Deloraine. Where would the LAS be without such dedicated members as Lynne? So we have pleasure in presenting you, Lynne, with this gift carefully chosen with the assistance of your daughter, Jodi, who has sent a brief message to be read out at the AGM. AN INSIGHT INTO LYNNE’S ART JOURNEY by her daughter, Jodi Lynne has always had a passion for drawing and the arts. Her eldest daughter, Jodi recalls going through Lynne’s sketch books as a child and marvelling at her mother’s detailed and captivating grey lead pencil drawings. Jodi remembers Lynne spending time around Launceston sketching various terrace houses. She eventually took an art class with Rosemary Mastnak and, as Lynne’s children became older, she enrolled at TAFE Launceston doing life drawing and graphic design. She also took lessons with Richard Hill in calligraphy drawing and, as many of you know, Lynne has amazing skills in many mediums, such as: oils, acrylics, pastels, pen and ink, watercolours and more recently zentangles. Over the years many portraits of people, pets, landscapes or someone’s home have been the objects of Lynne’s work. Family and friends have been lucky to have Lynne produce such special and life-like work for them to treasure for years to come. As a mother, Lynne was always willing and eager to teach her skills to her children. And now she takes great pleasure in teaching her grandchildren, Jake and Eryn. As her father, Jack James retired, Lynne encouraged him to take an art class. It soon became evident that she had rubbed off on her father who, as we all know now, is a man with an amazing artistic talent also. It was Jack in fact who joined the Launceston Art Society first, persuading Lynne to join too. Lynne and Jack have had a fabulous father-daughter art career together, holding many successful joint exhibitions. Since joining the LAS, Lynne has dedicated her time to not just her own great love of art, but to assist and help other members get the exposure they deserve. Her endless efforts have gained her much care and respect amongst the LAS members, and her family and friends could not be prouder of her and her amazing dedication to her true passion of art. |
