Jack James |
Jack James was born in Victoria and raised in Queenscliff, which could explain his penchant for water and boats. A working life in the engineering trade might account for his eye for detail.
Jack took to art (pencil drawing and painting) after a back injury restricted physical activity in 1995. Initial lessons in pencil drawing were with Rosemary Hill in Launceston, then followed further pencil drawing and basic principles of oil painting with the late Greg Waddle at Evandale in northern Tasmania. Jack’s painting successes have been at the annual Eskleigh Art Award, and many exhibitions in the north and north west of the State. Many of his artworks have been chosen for calendars including the CAPITAL Chemist Calendar. His works feature in England, the USA and New Zealand, as well as most States of Australia. Jack has also had a painting published in the May 2002 edition of “Australian Artist” magazine. |
