Gerry Jensen![]() Painting and drawing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember - there is nothing better than exploring different mediums and techniques. In more recent works I have felt inspired to simplify and use strokes and brush marks to describe the subject rather than being exact – its like regressing in old age back to the simpler things but it is a challenge. I like strong colour, drawing lines and textual elements and consider myself an intuitive painter as I like to just get going on the painting I have in mind – having said that I do work to the idea. I paint every day and find that this has been one of the major things that improves my work – as someone once said – It is the constant practise of painting that moves you forward. I am mainly self-taught but love to attend other artist’s workshops and always come away having learned something that I can apply to my style. I work in Oils, Watercolour, Pastel and other mediums. I conduct classes and workshops in my home studio and love to show others what I do with paint. Over the past few years I have won over 40 awards including several Major Awards – isn’t it great to be able to do something that we love.
