WHAT WE DO

The Launceston Art Society has a very vigorous programme of activities and events. We have a committee that comprises eighteen members who work on a voluntary basis to organise exhibitions, workshops, art trips, newsletters, art therapy and community programmes.

The LAS has a long history.  We have been wielding the pencils/brushes since 1891 and have over 150 card holding members!

The Launceston Art Society aims to play an active role in promoting art in northern Tasmania, and encouraging a sense of community and connection amongst the artists in our area.  We pride ourselves in fostering all levels of talent, from the complete novice to the experienced artist.
It is hoped that LAS members can maintain the vitality of spirit in keeping with those initial young people of the latter part of the 19th century who had the vision to bring together artists to enjoy and present works of art.
