I have been trained in London by some of the best figure draught persons including Sam Rabin and Jessie Cast, the latter having paintings in the Tate Collection.
I have also studied anatomy which is only taught at tastafe now.
My way of drawing comes from a style of drawing that was taken to England by Alphonse Legros from France. It emphasizes the relationships between forms which is becoming now a lost art, because of the over-emphasis on illustration and copying from photographs. Merely map drawing and copying shadows is not how I was taught but unfortunately that is how most people draw nowadays.
I have been asked to teach at Sozosha College of Design in Osaka, Japan, for their summer school this year. I will probably be emphasizing structure, which I noticed they were not teaching in any of their schools.
